Mahesh Jonnalagadda, DVM, M.S., Ph.D., DACLAM, CPIA
Associate director, veterinary services
Dr. Jonnalagadda is a licensed veterinarian in Virginia and Pennsylvania and is accredited by the USDA. With more than two decades of experience in laboratory animal medicine, he brings extensive expertise in research animal care, regulatory compliance, and biomedical program development.
He completed an integrated postdoctoral residency program and earned his Ph.D. in Cancer Immunotherapeutics and Tumor Immunology at the City of Hope National Medical Center/Beckman Research Institute in California. He later became a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and is also a Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA).
Throughout his career, Dr. Jonnalagadda has served in key leadership and advisory roles, including Attending Veterinarian at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and IACUC member at multiple institutions. His professional experience spans academic research environments across both the United States and Canada. Dr. Jonnalagadda currently serves as an ad hoc consultant for AAALAC International and sits on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. His professional interests include advancing animal welfare, integrating technologies to enhance vivarium operations, and developing and refining mouse models for cancer, diabetes, and health monitoring research.
